FORT BENNING, Ga. – Right this minute anyway, it’s spring.
By the time you read this, it could be winter again. Or an early summer. The only thing predictable at this time of year is the pollen.
One of my favorite spring traditions is the annual Concert on the Lawn at Riverside, the home of Fort Benning’s commanding general and his family, who kindly open the east lawn of their historic home every year so you and I can experience a Fort Benning tradition as old as Fort Benning itself.
Pack a picnic, grab a blanket or lawn chairs, and join us Sunday, April 2 from 4-7 p.m. for a free concert featuring the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band and guest performers from Talbot County Schools.
While you’re enjoying the music, you can also enjoy sampling some specialty craft beers and wines.
This event is free and open to the public. It is not an MWR-sponsored event, but we like it a lot and we like you a lot, so we don’t want you to miss it.
If you’d like to learn more about the history of Riverside, the history of Fort Benning and the great events that MWR hosts all year long, join us for the next Benning Bus Tour April 20 from 8:30 a.m.- 2 p. m. It’s free and it includes a fabulous complimentary lunch. Space is limited, so please let us know quickly so we can reserve a seat for you. For more information contact us (706) 545-3328.
