FORT BENNING, Ga. – The Fort Benning Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program hosted 27 transitioning Soldiers Feb. 27 for our first Watch / Connect Party where we tuned into a Fort Polk hiring event live on Facebook.
These parties, featuring live broadcasts, allow our transitioning Soldiers to connect with employers in a real-time two- way conversation via Facebook right here in the Fort Benning SFL-TAP auditorium.
Our own Staff Sgt. McKinnon was able to connect with Sid McManus of Vinnell Arabia during our broadcast and is now actively working with Sid to transition into one of Vinnell Arabia‘s artillery/fire support positions in Saudi Arabia.
Through our combined partnership with the Fort Polk Soldier for Life Transition Assistance office, we have reached 7,294 people while another 2,119 people have viewed our broadcasts as of March 2. This is the first time that anything like this has been done across the Army.
Personnel from Okinawa, Japan, Korea and Fort Stewart, Ga., also participated in our partnered live stream. Both Fort Polk and Fort Benning have had positive reviews and feedback from our combined efforts.
“You guys did an awesome job on the Job Fair and posting it on the Facebook page,” commented the Yongsan Soldier for Life–Transition Assistance Program (via a Facebook comment).
The Fort Benning SFL-TAP office is a vital bridge for transitioning Soldiers, spouses, and veterans to connect with employment opportunities.
