COLUMBUS, Ga. — Soldiers, families, and community members from Fort Benning, Columbus, Phenix City and the surrounding area gathered Dec. 4 to enjoy a traditional and contemporary selection of holiday tunes performed by the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band during their annual Holiday Concert at the RiverCenter in Columbus, Ga.
The band played a collection of holiday favorites to the delight of the audience, along with supporting several outstanding vocalist performances.
And in the spirit of the season, Cindy Wesley, wife of Maj. Gen. Eric J. Wesley, commanding general of the Maneuver Center of Excellence, recited ’Twas the Night before Christmas to many attentive and wide-eyed children who had gathered on the main stage to hear the timeless holiday favorite. Many of the children were Gold Star Family Members.
Gold Star Families are recognized for the sacrifices their families have made when a relative has died in service to our nation.
For over 50 years, the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band has taken great pride in entertaining the Soldiers, military families, and civilians of the Fort Benning, Columbus, and Phenix City communities.
The band creates esprit de corps among Soldiers and veterans, as well as provide a patriotic spirit within the civilian community.
The Maneuver Center of Excellence Band wishes a happy and safe holiday season to all!
