(FORT BENNING, Ga.) Fort Benning Soldiers and civilians observed the German-Italian Memorial Day Ceremony, November 17

2016, at the Fort Benning National Cemetery.

Col. David S. Davidson, Deputy Commandant USAARMS, Detlev RÜnger, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany to Atlanta and Maj. Corrado Carpentieri delivered remarks.

The observance honored 44 German and seven Italian World War II soldiers who were buried in the post cemetery. These soldiers were incarcerated here as prisoners of war during World War II between 1943 and 1946. (Photos by Patrick A. Albright/MCoE PAO Photographer)
