COLUMBUS, Ga. (Oct 28) –Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 81st Armored Regiment helped decorate the Veteran’s Memorial Middle School, “Haunted Hallway,” in support of Red Ribbon week and Halloween festivities.
Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world.
In response to the murder of a DEA Agent in Mexico, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.
Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.
3-81 Soldiers also participated in the judging of faculty homemade chili and desserts and doors decorated by the students. Veteran’s Memorial Middle School in Columbus, Ga., is a Partner in Education (PIE) of the 3-81 Armored Regiment.
